Kenya-US-UK Launch Trilateral Counter-Terrorism Hotline
CAMP LEMONNIER, DJIBOUTI – The Kenyan Counter Terrorism Bureau, United States Africa Command, and the British High Commission announced the first trilateral counterterrorism reporting platform in East Africa on September 19, 2026. The platform goes live on October 15, 2026, and contains an online portal and a toll-free hotline serving as an anonymous channel to report suspicious or known terrorist activities.
The toll-free hotline can be reached at 0800-900-900 from any phone in Kenya.
The complex security environment in the Horn of Africa requires close coordination and no one nation can solve it alone. This multilateral collaboration ensures strategic unity among the three Nations that directly counter foreign terrorist organizations and improves security through burden sharing in East Africa.
“We all want the same thing: a safer, more secure, Horn of Africa. Kenya is key to this effort, and the community-based reports this tipline generates operational actions that Kenyan, British, and American security teams will proactively use as a team to make life safer for Kenyans,” said Maj. Gen. Shane P. Morgan, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa Commanding General.
Shared operational perspectives are critical to fast, effective, counterterrorism operations. The tipline allows anyone to place a report and potentially receive rewards for actionable tips that help stop terrorist attacks before they happen.
“Terrorist groups like al-Shabaab thrive on silence. This platform breaks it by giving every Kenyan a direct channel to help stop an attack,” said Carla Benini, U.S. Embassy Nairobi Acting Deputy Chief of Mission.
“This hotline launch elevates the community to serve as partners in countering terrorism everywhere: church, mosque, public transport and even during special events. It is a line that will save lives,” Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said, while attending on behalf of Kenyan President William Ruto.
Kenya’s Counter-Terrorism Bureau will own, manage, and operate the system; allowing them to set the priorities for their country with support from the U.S. and U.K.
“The U.K. is proud to support Kenya, alongside our U.S. partners, in launching this Kenyan-owned capabilities that gives the public a clear route to share terrorism-related concerns,” said Ed Barnett, U.K. Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya.
